Minimal Time for Gingival Retraction Cords to Achieve Accurate Impression: An In Vivo Study
ثبت نشده
چکیده
The introduction of elastomeric impression materials in dentistry resulted in the development of different methods of tissue retraction in order to achieve accurate impression of the finish line of the tooth preparation, which is necessary to fabricate a prosthetic crown. This area needs to be clean, dry and visible. The gingival retraction method [1] is conducted using a retraction cord soaked in epinephrine or in an astringent agent. In addition to retracting the tissues laterally to permit impression taking of the tooth preparation finish line, the use of a retractor cord promotes a dry, clean gingival crevice, eliminating blood and/or gingival crevicular fluid.

Effects of sulfur-based hemostatic agents and gingival retraction cords handled with latex gloves on the polymerization of polyvinyl siloxane impression materials
OBJECTIVES This study investigated the possible interactions between three addition silicone materials (Express®, Aquasil Ultra® and Adsil®), three hemostatic agents (ferric sulfate, StatGel FS®; aluminum sulfate, GelCord®; and aluminum chloride, Hemostop®) and gingival retraction cords previously handled with latex gloves to determine whether direct contact with medicaments or indirect contami...

Gingival retraction or dilation is an important procedure in the fabrication of fixed prostheses. Quite often, the margins of these restorations are placed very close to the gingival margin, or even subgingivally, for aesthetic and functional reasons. Therefore, the operating surgeon must correctly record the prepared cervical finish line to enable adequate marginal integrity for the restoratio...
متن کاملAltering internal surface of putty impression material for better recording of tooth preparation margins
This article describes the clinical procedures for a modified putty-wash impression technique. In this method, the hydraulic pressure induced from planned flowing the wash material from the inner surface of putty impression toward the vestibules pull over the gingival tissues covering the finishing line. This simple method reduces the need to using retraction cord in normal depth finishing line...

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM A wide spectrum of different gingival retraction cords is used, while the relative clinical efficacy of these cords remains undocumented. PURPOSE This study aimed to determine whether clinicians were able to identify differences in clinical performance among 3 types of gingival retraction cords. METHODS AND MATERIAL Dental students and faculty members ranked pairs or se...
متن کاملGingival Retraction Methods for Fabrication of Fixed Partial Denture: Literature Review
Fixed dental prosthesis success requires appropriate impression taking of the prepared finish line. This is critical in either tooth supported fixed prosthesis (crown and bridge) or implant supported fixed prosthesis (solid abutment). If the prepared finish line is adjacent to the gingival sulcus, gingival retraction techniques should be used to decrease the marginal discrepancy among the resto...
